[info]That’s one of Ron’s collectible turtles on the left, on top of a copy of Foreign Affairs magazine.[/info] [info]Among the depth of books in his library is the Winston Churchill book on top the stack on the right.[/info] [info]In 1971 Ron beat out a popular Calgary Stampeders star to be elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.[/info] [info]In 1985 he ran for the leadership of the Progressive Conservative Party of Alberta, but came in third, ushering in the Don Getty era. Before entering politics, Don was a quarterback for the Edmonton Eskimos.[/info]
I was born in Calgary, raised in Edmonton, and returned to Calgary, which is the best place in the world to live. (Followed, of course, by Edmonton.)
While my friend Schulz collects subjects with his green car, I choose to collect turtles because they live long and we all know that slow and steady wins the race.
