Discussing Music With The Laureate
Featuring Hinrich Alpers
Pianist, Honens Laureate, Teacher
June 10, 2012
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

German pianist Hinrich Alpers talks with his fingers.  He believes “music is one of the most direct and powerful ways of communicating”, and adds “listeners depend on honest and inspired performers.”  Both the International Telekom Beethoven Competition Bonn and Honens agree, having chosen this honest, inspired pianist as First Prize winner and Laureate, respectively.  Hinrich has performed in recital, with orchestra and as chamber music collaborator throughout Europe, the United States and Canada, including performances at the Berlin Philharmonie and Carnegie Hall.   His playing has been called “music making of the highest order” by The New York Sun. Hinrich lives in Berlin with his cellist wife Sabine and son Jasper, and teaches piano at the University of Music and Drama of Hanover.
