<\/div>\nCarol was born and raised in Strasbourg, Saskatchewan, a community of under 900 people, where she has worked for the Royal Bank of Canada<\/a> for over 40 years and will be retiring at the end of 2015.<\/p>\n

In 1974 she married Robert Schultz had three wonderful sons, Kristopher, Terrence and Nicholas. All them are, in turn, married and provided her with three daughter-in-laws. As much as she appreciates those additions to the family, the icing on the cake are her eight grandchildren. “They put a smile on my face every time I think of them — and that is always!” says Carol.<\/p>\n

She has this to say about her community:<\/p>\n

Being involved in the community is a way to give back for the life my family had while growing up here. I was on town council and was mayor for 28 years and have been on every committee involved with council. I still am very active in the Last Mountain Theatre Company<\/a>, Strasbourg Museum, Strasbourg Library, Last Mountain Pioneer Home Foundation Board and the Strasbourg Recreation Board. I believe just because we live in a small town does not mean we can not enjoy the events and life style of larger centres, thus my desire to make things happen. I love my life and the people that I share it with.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

She is one of the founding members of the Last Mountain Theatre company which has been performing adult drama productions in the community for over 25 years. She says there is no greater satisfaction than to hear people laughing or leaving a production in awe from what they just watched.<\/strong><\/div><\/div>\n

All three of her sons played hockey. Their dad coached them for years. Does the name Nick Schultz<\/a> ring a bell? He was drafted into the NHL in 2000 by the Minnesota Wild<\/a>, and played for the Edmonton Oilers<\/a> for a stint. He currently plays for the Philadelphia Flyers<\/a>.<\/strong><\/div><\/div>\n

Heritage is a driving force for Carol. She says, “saving some of the heritage from our past is a passion of mine and also keeping our community vibrant for young families to live in keeps me always looking at ways we can make our community a better place to live.\n
<\/div>\nFor her photo, Carol stood in front of the one room school house that was the first school in Strasbourg. When it was about to be demolished she went in front of council to make the case that school should be moved to the museum grounds so the museum board would work on restoring the building and using it for functions. And… success! They have completed the inside and outside and the one room school house is used by the community. Many classes from other schools come and do a “day and the life” experience in this one room school. She remarks, “a small piece of history from Strasbourg lives on.”<\/strong><\/div><\/div>\n
