<\/div>\nBob is a Canadian author and science journalist. He is the National Science Commentator for CBC Television<\/a> and CBC News Network<\/a> and since 1992 has hosted Quirks & Quarks<\/a>, a weekly radio science show, which with an audience of over half a million listeners each week.<\/p>\n

In 1972, with no formal academic training, he began his science communication career as a demonstrator at the Ontario Science Centre<\/a>. He eventually traveled to California to watch the live action of NASA<\/a>‘s first space probes and when he returned to Canada, he found himself in demand to talk about the missions and eventually became the regular science correspondent for a number of shows.<\/p>\n

In 2010 he was initiated as an honorary life member of Sigma Xi<\/a>, a prestigious scientific research society in the United States with membership is by invitation only. Previous honorary inductees have included some of the best known science writers in America, and Bob was the first Canadian to receive this honor.<\/p>\n

Says Bob: “Science is just a very good way of looking at life, looking at the world around you.”
