Shane grew up on an acreage outside of Penhold, Alberta<\/a>. He was adopted at the age of 6 by a M\u00e9tis<\/a> family. Yard work was his first job. Though cooking was his second job it was all he ever wanted to do. He says, “I still want to learn, see, eat, and know more.”<\/p>\n

Shane is Cree<\/a>, one of the largest First Nations<\/a> groups in Canada.<\/strong><\/div><\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t\t
He sports an Asian food inspired sleeve tattoo which he got after struggling with “horrible pneumonia” for 15 days. When he finally recovered he thought about how he always wanted this type of tattoo, took some time to think about the design and had it done. “Basically, life is short!”<\/strong><\/div><\/div>\n

He has won many awards but one loss stays with him. He placed 20th out of 23 in the Rocky Mountain Oyster Shucking Competition. Wait. What? Oysters in the Rocky Mountains? They’re not what you think<\/a>.<\/strong><\/div><\/div>\n

He failed a food class in high school. Talk about tubthumbing<\/a>!<\/strong><\/div><\/div>\n

He dislikes kidney, goat (and goat cheese) and chocolate.<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/strong>He was in a band for a year before he was heard the words, “Shane, you don\u2019t need to come to the next practice.\u201d Until that point, he was the lead singer.<\/div><\/div>\n
