Dan is a journalist who specializes in environmental health issues. He won the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction for his book Toms River: A Story of Science and Salvation<\/a>. Toms River also won the Helen Bernstein Book Award for Excellence in Journalism and the National Academies Communication Award, among other literary prizes. The New York Times called it<\/a> \u201ca new classic of science reporting”.<\/p>\n
