<\/div>\nBorn and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, Manola started her career as an artist after receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Her art training includes courses at the University of Colorado<\/a> and the University of California at Los Angeles<\/a>. She considers herself a self-taught artist.<\/p>\n

She moved to Edmonton in 2000. Her natural creativity has been further enriched when she got introduced to glass at Panache Ceramic Industries<\/a>. Since 2002 she has been exploring that medium and created numerous bold, rich color pieces. Her techniques and use of dots make her work unique. Nature has been the primary theme in her glass work. Poppies, trees and organic forms are the main subjects. She tries to manipulate the glass like wood, her other favored medium, stretching the boundaries between drama and romanticism.<\/p>\n

Glass and Manola are a special mix. Manola’s participation in group and solo shows continues to expand. Her work is rapidly gaining recognition, and is housed in private and corporate collections across Canada and the United States. Locally her work has been exhibited at The Front Gallery<\/a> and Panache. She has also been engaged in numerous private commissions.<\/p>\n

Her art encompasses the properties of light, the texture of glass, and the art of bold designs using palettes of vivid colour. Her painting techniques are self-taught and unique to her. Nature images such as trees, poppies and organic shapes have been the primary inspiration of Manola’s glasswork.<\/p>\n

Manola says:<\/p>\n

On my journey of painting, there are elements that are always present. There is an abundance of dots, but there is always room for more. It has to be that way. It is my obsession.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
