Malcolm was born in Edmonton, Alberta in 1962. Through his teens he drew extensively and by his late teens was selling artwork on a regular basis. A love of cartooning and interest in newspapers steered him towards political commentary. After studying Design Art at Grant MacEwan Community College<\/a> he freelanced for a dozen Alberta weeklies before landing a full-time position at the Edmonton Journal<\/a> in June 1986.<\/p>\n

Malcolm is one of Canada’s most widely read political cartoonists. His work has been published in over 150 Canadian publications, including Maclean\u2019s, The Toronto Star, Montreal Gazette and Ottawa Citizen. In addition, his cartoons have been broadcast on the CBC, CTV, CNN, and Al Jazeera networks. He’s won numerous internal Southam, CanWest and PostMedia awards and was nominated three times for a National Newspaper Award. In 1996 he published a cartoon collection entitled Political Asylum<\/em>.<\/p>\n

He was also an early entry in cyberspace, becoming one of the first cartoonists on the continent to go digital by creating animated political cartoons for Microsoft’s News Website. He is also the founder of Artizans.com <\/a>, an online service that delivers digital artwork to publications around the world.<\/p>\n

His favourite creations are his twin daughters, Michelle and Kelsey. He lives in an old house on a quiet treed boulevard in central Edmonton.<\/p>\n
