Mrs. Heather Klimchuk is a second-term Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Alberta representing the riding of Edmonton-Glenora. She was appointed Minister of Culture on May 8, 2012. She has been a champion for youth and families in her community, as a volunteer coordinator for the Bell Walk for Kids Help Phone and the Junior League of Edmonton’s “Homes for the Holidays” event. She has shared her passion for education through mentoring students and serving as chair and volunteer coordinator with the Glenora School Council. Listening to the experiences of constituents has guided her work as MLA and Minister.

As a wife, mother, volunteer and community activist, Heather Klimchuk is a staunch advocate of the power of partnerships in building strong communities and a strong Alberta. Mrs. Klimchuk has dedicated years as both patron and fundraiser in support of the arts in Edmonton. She is known as a strong advocate for cultural industries. She served as director of St. Basil’s School of Ukrainian Dance, as well as communications director for the Kupalo Ukrainian Dance School. She is a champion for local festivals, fairs and community based gatherings. That interest and involvement has given her a unique appreciation for how culture connects communities together and to the world around us.

Heather been known to ballroom dance in the Edmonton City Hall lobby during 50 Days of Opera.
Attributes her lovely gams to 12 years of devoted tap and jazz dancing.
She can often be found enjoying local art, especially in blown glass shops across Alberta.
