Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Alexis is deeply in love with Edmonton and everything in it. She was born and raised here, and this will be the place she grows her roots. She is a top-notch choir nerd, and has sung with the Kokopelli Choir Association since she was 15 years old. She is a caregiver for seniors, a champion for LGBTQ rights, and loves cooking and baking – gluten free bread and 16-layer veggie lasagne are two of her favourites! You might catch her swimming at the YMCA, busking on Whyte Avenue with her ukulele, or exploring the many markets and festivals this great city has to offer. Her favourite holiday is Christmas, because it means eating entire Brie cheese wheels and watching The Grinch with her favourite people (Fern, Ainsley and Gerry).
Alexis was born without her left hand and she has no idea how people do stuff with two: “doesn’t the second hand get in the way?”
She lived in Namibia for over a year, working with youth choirs and teaching grades 5 and 6.
She knows that you can only jump on beds in hotels.
In another fit of wisdom, she says: “Icing out of the jar? Sure.”
She was named one of Avenue Magazine’s Top 40 Under 40. Why? Read here.
